Privacy Policy

Effective 2026. This policy explains what the Keep Santos campaign collects, why, how long it is kept, and how to make it stop.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to santos4rsa.com and to any information you submit through this website to the Keep Santos campaign ("the campaign", "we", "us"). The campaign supports the candidacy of Jose Santos for President of the Riverside Sheriffs' Association. The campaign is a separate effort from the Riverside Sheriffs' Association itself, and submitting information here does not change your RSA membership, benefits, coverage, or standing in any way.

Questions about this policy go to jose@santos4rsa.com.

2. What we collect

We only collect what you type into a form on this site. There are two forms.

Endorsement form

  • First name and last name (required)
  • Email address (required)
  • Classification or station (optional)
  • Your endorsement of Jose Santos for RSA President (required to submit the form)
  • A comment on why you are endorsing (optional)
  • Cell phone number (optional)
  • Whether you checked the box consenting to text messages (optional)

Ask Me Anything form

  • Name (optional, you may ask anonymously)
  • Email address (only needed if you want a reply)
  • Topic and your question

Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, the service that hosts this website, and are delivered to the campaign. Netlify records standard technical information with each submission, which can include your IP address, browser type, and the time of submission. Netlify's own handling of that data is governed by its privacy notice.

Website visits

Every page view on this site is written to a visit log the campaign keeps. Each entry records:

  • The IP address the visit came from
  • The approximate location that IP address maps to, meaning city, state, postal code and country. This comes from the address, not from your device location, and it is often no more precise than your city or your internet provider.
  • The page opened, the date and time, the link or site you arrived from, and the browser and device type your browser reports
  • A random visitor number, described under cookies below, so repeat visits from the same browser can be recognized

This log is written on the server. It reads nothing else on your device, and it is never sold, shared with an advertising network, or given to a data broker.

Cookies

This site sets one cookie of its own, named s4r_vid. It holds a random number that means nothing outside this site, and it exists so that three visits from the same browser are not counted as three different people. It carries no name, no email address and nothing else about you, it can be read only by this site, and it expires after one year. Clearing your cookies removes it, and the site works normally without it.

3. What we do not collect

  • We do not ask for and never want your Social Security number, date of birth, driver's license number, badge number, payroll information, or any government identification number.
  • We do not ask for passwords or account credentials of any kind.
  • We do not process payments on this website. The campaign does not solicit or accept contributions through this site, and no card or bank information is collected here.
  • We do not run advertising trackers, third party analytics pixels, remarketing tags, or social media tracking scripts on this site.
  • We do not set third party cookies, and we do not use cookies to build a profile of you or to follow you to other websites. The single first party cookie this site sets is described in section 2.

4. How we use your information

  • To record your endorsement, and to display or reference your support for the campaign. If you write a comment on the endorsement form, it may be published as an endorsement alongside your name and classification. Leave that field blank if you do not want to be quoted.
  • To send campaign updates by email.
  • To send campaign text messages, but only if you affirmatively checked the mobile messaging consent box.
  • To answer a question you submitted.
  • To organize campaign activity, such as station visits and meet and greets.
  • To meet any recordkeeping or disclosure obligation that applies to the campaign.
  • To keep the visit log described in section 2, which tells us how many members are reading the record, which posts and links brought them here, and whether endorsement submissions are genuine rather than repeated or automated.

That is the complete list. We do not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.

5. We do not sell your information

We do not sell, rent, trade, lease, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties for money or other valuable consideration. We do not share it with data brokers, list vendors, commercial marketers, or other campaigns. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined.

The only parties who see your information are: the campaign and the people working on it, and the service providers that operate the website and deliver its email and text messages. Those providers are bound to use the information only to provide the service. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so by a valid court order, subpoena, or other legal process.

6. Text message terms and mobile consent

Providing a cell phone number on the endorsement form does not by itself sign you up for text messages. Text messages are sent only if you separately check the mobile messaging consent box.

By checking that box and providing your mobile number, you consent to receive recurring automated campaign and informational text messages from Keep Santos, including messages sent using an automatic telephone dialing system, at the number you provided. This consent is given under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and applicable Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules.

  • Consent is not a condition. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of endorsing this campaign, of membership in the Riverside Sheriffs' Association, of any benefit or service, or of any purchase.
  • Message frequency varies. Frequency depends on campaign activity.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Your wireless carrier's standard rates apply to messages you send and receive.
  • To stop: reply STOP to any message from the campaign. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further messages.
  • For help: reply HELP to any message, or email jose@santos4rsa.com.
  • Carrier liability. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Supported carriers may change without notice. Not all carriers or devices are supported in all areas.

You may withdraw consent at any time, by any reasonable means, including replying STOP or emailing the campaign. We honor opt out requests promptly and permanently unless you later opt back in.

7. Email messages

Campaign emails include an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribe requests promptly, consistent with the CAN-SPAM Act and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requirements. You can also unsubscribe by emailing jose@santos4rsa.com. We do not use deceptive subject lines or false sender information.

8. Campaign disclosure and regulatory notes

This is an internal officer election within the Riverside Sheriffs' Association. It is not a federal, state, or local public office election. The campaign is not a federal candidate committee registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), and it is not a state or local candidate committee registered with the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC). Communications from this campaign are not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee for public office.

Where any FEC, FPPC, FTC, FCC, association bylaw, or election rule disclosure or recordkeeping obligation does apply to campaign communications, the campaign follows it.

9. How long we keep information

Endorsement and question records are kept for the duration of the campaign and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping, then deleted. Records subject to a legal or bylaw retention requirement are kept for the period that rule requires. Opt out records, meaning the fact that you asked not to be contacted, are kept indefinitely so that we can honor your request and avoid contacting you again. Visit log entries are kept through the end of the election and deleted no later than December 31, 2026, unless a specific entry is needed to resolve a question about an endorsement.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are transmitted encrypted in transit and stored with the hosting provider under its access controls. Access within the campaign is limited to the people who need it to do campaign work. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise, but we do not collect sensitive identifiers in the first place, which is the strongest protection available.

11. Your rights

You may ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you.
  • Provide a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it.
  • Stop contacting you by email, by text, or both.
  • Delete visit log entries that came from your IP address, if you tell us the address and the rough dates.

California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right not to be retaliated against for exercising them. Because we do not sell or share personal information and do not use it for cross context behavioral advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on that front, but you may still exercise every other right listed above.

To make a request, email jose@santos4rsa.com with the word PRIVACY in the subject line. We will respond within a reasonable time, and will not ask you for more information than we need to verify who you are.

12. Children

This site is intended for adults, and specifically for RSA members and community supporters. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted information, email the campaign and it will be deleted.

13. Links to other sites

This site links to news coverage and other outside pages. Those sites have their own privacy practices and this policy does not apply to them.

14. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is used, the effective date above is updated and the change is described here. Material changes affecting mobile messaging consent will be communicated before they take effect.

October 1, 2026: added the website visit log described in section 2, which records the IP address of each visit, and the single first party cookie that goes with it.
